  1. http://foodpoisoningbulletin.com/2013/publix-and-wegmans-dog-food-treat-recalls/

Publix and Wegmans stores are recalling more dog treats for trace amounts of antibiotic residue. This antibiotic, which is in use in China and the EU, is illegal in the United States. The treats were made with ingredients imported from China.

Wegmans is recalling IMS Pet Industries' Cadet Gourmet Chicken Sausage in 8 ounce size. The UPC number is 7-68303-07461. For more information, contact IMS Pet Industries at 1-800-394-4467.

Publix is recalling their private label Publix Chicken Tenders Dog Chew Treats. The product is packaged in a 3.5 ounce bag. The UPC number is 41415-18527. It was sold in Publix grocery stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. For questions, call Customer Relations at 1-800-242-1227 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The FDA has been investigating animal illnesses linked to jerky pet treats for years. Most of the complaints are about chicken jerky made into treats, tenders, and strips. Other complaints have been about duck, sweet potato, and treats made with chicken or duck jerky wrapped around dried fruits, sweet potatoes, or yams. There have been more than 2,000 consumer complaints, mostly about dogs. In the past 18 months, there have been 360 dog deaths and one cat death. Cases have been reported from all 50 states.

These treats are not necessary for your pet's health. If you do choose to give your pet these products, watch carefully for signs of illness, which may include decreased appetite, decreased activity, vomiting, diarrhea, increased water consumption, or increased urination. If your pets display these symptoms, stop feeding them the jerky treat product and see your veterinarian.

  2. Let's purchase more quality goods from the Peoples Republic of China and totally support our entrepreneurs who are so concerned with their profits that they are concerned with nothing else. Boycott these jerks and put them out of business

  3. I have been cooking my dogs food for over a year and they are both much healthier than ever. When the first "threat" of any toxic ingredients being put into the store bought treats became public I then started making their treats as well. Now I know exactly what is going into their bodies and I know it is all healthy ingredients, which makes me sleep a lot better at night.

  4. This coming from a country that skins, boils alive & eats dogs without a flinch or twinge of conscience. Ironic they are Exporting dog treats that are making our beoved pets sick. A money making product for them that can potentially break our hearts when our animals die. All very twisted

    1. You are so right, Julia. They hang dogs upside down and beat them as slowly as possible because they think a slow death makes them more tender. It is disgusting. I don't want any Chinese fifth in my beloved pets' bellies.

  5. Why does China keep putting out food that kills or pets? I'm not really looking for an answer, its a rhetorical question. Stop buying crap foods for your pets and yourself. Stop buying crap from a country who obviously does not believe in human rights or animal rights.

  9. Okay people, Listen up.

STOP BUYING ANY PRODUCTS (FOR YOUR PETS OR YOURSELF) THAT IS NOT MADE IN THE USA OR CANADA.

I have been saying this for 20 years. Right after my neighbor lost two dogs in a row to liver disease... The only common factor was he gave each dog a new raw hide bone every friday.
He loved his dogs so very much, He said when I get paid, they get paid.

Also, Read the package carefully, Some store disguise (trick you) by buying bulk and packaging it in the US. The package will be cleverly marked with something like "Packaged in the USA" Or Proudly packaged exclusively for ______.

Why not make your own treats? Its easy to buy a few chicken breasts cut them in strips and bake them, wrap them in little single serving pieces and freeze them.
My dogs get a carrot as a treat. Most dogs like veggies.

There are many easy healthy recipes available online, Why not bake your own treats.

  11. This is the direct result of corporate greed and the government cowpowing to companies and not the people of this country who elected them. No oversight , no penalty for companies that close down factories here and ship the jobs to China.

This country is dying a slow death because of the corporate greed that refuses to hire the people it wants to sell to. The have little oversight in China, little wages, no benefits. We need a government that will bring back those jobs by fining any company shipping out jobs overseas. If the product is not sold in that country, it should not be made there if the headquarters is here.

I'm just saying. Is China slowly killing us?

  13. Yes those Jerky Chicken made in China has created a massive health problems across the globe. It was documented & aired on TV a couple months ago how badly the innocent dogs have died with Liver mulfunctioning, or Diarrhea, and also with having Heart failiur. Over 600 dogs have died and another thousands of them were affected by the Chicken Jerkey treats. They are infact NOT chicken but some variety of animal by products, colorings, chicken stipe shapes and also THE WORST GLYCERINE was included. All in all they found out these treats were totally not for the normal standard of a dogs treat. Please if you purchased any of these treats don't hesitate to throw them away ASAP. That is what I immediately did when I watched that documentary that day. How ever mind you when you look on the Bag it does not say made in China. Instead it shows the country where the packages done. Those jerky chickens are being exported from china as in Large BULKS. So once when it goes to a country that particular countries importers are the ones who do the packaging in small versions. That is where people are given misinformation by saying made in Canada. Made in USA or Made in Germany. The bottom line so many innocent beloved pets have been sent to their grave yards way too early due to this massive scamming of chinese filthy food stuff. Not only Canada & USA but in many other parts of the world the pets have died in hundreds including Germany. PEOPLE DONT BUY ANY KIND OF FOREIGN MADE FOOD STUFF. TRY TO CONSUME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE LOCAL MADE Fruits Vegetables & also for the Pets also simply the food stuffs made within Local areas. When doing so only we will be able to support our own country local farmers & also to put an end to Chinese filth we keep bying and supporting their millions of dollars worth poisonous food industry.
