    1. Another poor animal who very very unfortunately is at the mercy of the @*@##* people who own him. Do not put this innocent dog down! Dogs are not aggressive unless people make them that way! The poor thing, I am sure he is totally traumatized! Dogs usually rescue and save children or adults when in peril, not trained to do so, but it is inherent in them to do so!!!

    2. DO NOT TAKE ZICO;S LIFE. IT IS THE PARENT;S RESPONSABILTY TO WATCH THERE CHILD NOT ZICO;S. I AM SORRY FOR THE CHILD. PLEASE SAVE ZICO

  2. The poor boy is named Dinis. Is a human innocent life less than an animal life? I adore animals, I signed yet a portuguese petition about this case. A dog that attacks is dangerous, instead all reasons.

    1. Read the article the dog did not attack the child, the baby fell and hit his head, the dog had nothing to do with it other than being a scapegoat for people who are neglectfull not only of the child but of the dog and now the dog is suffering abuse and neglect even more so because of it.

I am praying for both the child and the dog ,I think also that it may be in this childs best intrest to be removed from that enviornment until it can be determind that it is safe for the child to be returned, the poor dog needs to be placed in a loving forever home!

    3. Again, a case of BSL. The dog was just probably trying to protect the boy who was neglectfully left unattended. Don't kill the messenger......go after the parents.

  4. I feel very sad for the child and for Zico, Zico was in the dark inhe kitchen, he was sleep unexpected the child fall on top of Zico, but there are serious doubs he attacked the child, wasn't any bite on the Childs body, My golden retriever was sleep in the dark in my bed, i didn't call him or put the lights on and i fall down in his legs, he attacked me. Wasn't his fault was my fault, he was sleep and something unexpected happens, we are humans we think what is right or wrong, and is wrong to live the child unatended, The childs grandfather said Zico was a friendly, sweet dog. Another Child and Dod suffer the consequences for the mistakes of humans. Please save Zico.

    1. I TOO FEEL SORRY FOR THE CHILD. IT IS NOT ZICOS FAULT. DO NOT PUT THIS DOG DOWN AND MAKE HIM PAY FOR THE PARENTS NEGLECT.

  5. I agree that the parents are the sole responsible. A dog can get jealous too if he has not given attention, food, care and never goes out from the house. A dog can get angry if he is left alone. So human wisdom is higher than dog's, right?

  6. I feel very sorry for the Child and Zico, but wasn't Zico fault, Zico was sleep in the dark in the kitchen, the child fall on top of Zico, there are serious doubts, the child didn't have any bites in his body. My golden retriever was sleep in the dark in my bed, i always put the lights on and i call him, but that day i was tired and went to bed and i fall in his legs, he attacked me, wasn't his fault was my fault. We know what is wrong and right, i saw a video were the parents of a todler make the todler jump and jump on the poor dogs back, that is very painful for the dog, the parents laughing , that is animal cruelty if the dog attack to deffend himself, the parents put the dog down, we have to teach our childrens to respect animals, i have doubts Zico attacked i think the Child hit his head when fall down, why the child doesn't have any bite marks?. The childs grandfather said that Zico was a friendly, sweet dog, I feel very sad for Zico, here is another dog that suffer the consequences of human mistakes. The child should never be unantended.

sincere condoleante familiei si Dumnezeu sa-l odihneasca in pace pe micut.

  10. If the child died from a fall, why is the dog being blamed? Were there bite marks on the child?

Any person who leaves a child unattended should be shot. It's also a very stupid idea to leave a small child in the "care" of a dog.

If there were no bite marks on the child, then my guess is that the parents are using the dog as a scapegoat to deflect criticism from themselves.

  11. Another example of human stupidity and cruelty --and breed discrimnation-- punishing an innocent dog for human carelessness. If he were a terrier no doubt the reaction would be very different! People need to understand - Pitts are innately among the gentlest breeds.

  12. It is obvious, especially because there were no bite marks on the child, that this animal IS NOT responsible....In fact, over the weekend in Conroe, Texas there was a two year old boy that wandered out of his backyard and into the enclosed back yard of a neighbor and was killed when he was attacked by the neighbor's dog, but no charges are expected to be filed because the dog was in his backyard while the child wasn't in his...and where was the mother..not watching the kid like she should've been because she was inside the house with another child!

  13. THE DOG WAS NOT AT FAULT. ITS EASY TO BLAME AN ANIMAL INSTEAD OF BAD PARENTING.

  17. Do not shift the blame from the parents, who were responsible for the unfortunate incident. Why should another innocent life be taken?

  18. Another reason why they should stop breeding dogs so much. It should be regulated and restricted to only certain individuals. People can't take care of themselves let alone a dog. This person should not be allowed to have a dog. Make it like china where they regulate how many children you have.

  19. They should have the dog taken away and not allowed to have children or pets ever again. One thing I actually agree with that china does.

  20. i can't stand irresponsible parents. i have met too many of them. they should be sterilized.

  24. I am shocked at how many people here don't know the facts and claim, "it wasn't the dogs fault" and "the child didn't have any bite marks on him."
"According to a hospital source who spoke to Portuguese newspaper Público, the child was admitted to hospital with a severe concussion and died from his injuries around midnight on January 8. The autopsy, performed the following day, revealed that the child’s death was caused by the dog’s bites, reported the newspaper, quoting a source from the Legal Medicine Institute."
    Also in this story:
"news agency Lusa reported that the child’s grandfather had been attacked at least twice by the dog and needed medical assistance."

Autopsy finds dog bites killed the child.
Read it for yourself before you make your pleas for the dog. Where do you people draw the line? At what point is the dog to aggressive? How many attacks requiring medical assistance does it take before you are willing to say the dog should be put down?
