  5. I realize we can all leave comments but... what can we do to get them out? Who do we contact? How much time do they have? And of course it is horrible that some people were killed let's not forget them!

    1. Yes, how can we help them? We need to help not just comment. This is outrageous treatment of poor, starving animals that people have caused because they don't spay or neuter their pets. Also because they don't help little ones like these that are homeless.

  8. A clear case of being found guilty simply because they are the right species.

  10. How could any of these little dogs hurt anyone..? They are all so hungry and in need of love. They have no proof and are taking it out on innocent animals! This is terrible! How can we help? Is there a petition to show our support of these poor dogs? Can we get them to the US and in a safe place?

  12. Such an inhumane & disgusting ethics these police are following. Why? I wish I had the $$$ to fly to Mexico, swoop up all these dogs and give them a forever home. These type of situations haunt me, frighten me & make me feel just plain sad.

  13. I have no way of knowing which of these 36 dogs that have been rounded up out of the park had anything to do with killing 6 people, but I am here and I will tell you that the police are not the bad guys in this. We have programs that give low cost (100 pesos) and free sterilization all of the time and people here do not want to do it. Anyone who doesn't believe that Labs and Golden Retrievers are capable of killing a grown human doesn't know what they are talking about, and it wouldn't take more than two or three to bring down a grown man. Several years ago a census taker was killed by family dogs in Indiana.

Most people here don't treat their animals like people in the states do. Animals are NOT part of your family here, they are left to run on the streets or chained out on 2 or 3 foot chains or put on the roof of your home, not fed well, not neutered, not petted. If the animal control here did round up these animals on a regular basis what would you want them to do with them? Most people here would not pay to support them, nor would they adopt them. The only option is to kill them and that is usually done by clipping a car battery charger up to them.

There are people here trying to help. Here are two that I personally know of if you would like to help dogs here in Mexico state you could send some small amount to either of these. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Adopcion-de-Perritos-y-Gatos-el-zacatecano-david/257284700956476?fref=ts This is a young man named David who actually goes out on foot and on his scooter and feeds and waters perros callejeros (street dogs) and although he rents he also has a full house of dogs and cats. He recently was dumped by his wife/girlfriend because she couldn't stand that he spends all his time and money trying to save animals. https://www.facebook.com/NoMasAntirrabicoEnTexcoco?fref=ts This is our local anti-rabies office/clinic. It has been recently taken over by anti-euthanasia activists and no longer kills strays, unfortunately they an also no longer picking up strays, nor do they provide services for people like I who can't afford to take their pets to a private vet like they used to.

If you really care about the animals here in Mexico send a few bucks to one of these, or look up some of the other people here who are doing all they can with next to nothing.

    SPAY/NEUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Dozens of protesters chanting "free the dogs, arrest the criminals!" say that about 50 stray dogs seized in connection with five deaths in a Mexico City park in recent weeks are innocent and should be released.

The city prosecutor's office says initial tests on the first 25 strays indicate there is no evidence they ate human flesh. However, officials are still awaiting results from tests on their fur to see if any human DNA was present on the dogs.

  17. This is an interesting update:

"New Mexico City law punishes animal cruelty with jail"
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-21270385

"At least 25 dogs living in Cerro de la Estrella, a hilly woodland in eastern Mexico City, were rounded up by investigators but later cleared of suspicion."

Two bits of great news in there... Three if you count the movement towards stopping bull fighting.
