Commend Animal Shelter for Showing Compassion to Elderly Abandoned Dog
Commend Animal Shelter for Showing Compassion to Elderly Abandoned Dog.
Recently, an 18-year-old dog was heartlessly abandoned by her owner at an animal shelter in Florida. This dog, now called Friday, has been taken in by the Tri-County Humane Society in Boca Raton. Although Friday is now in the care of loving volunteers and staff members, Friday will never understand why she will no longer be able to go back to the place she has always called home. Commend the volunteers and staff members of Tri-County Humane Society for their continued efforts in making Friday as comfortable as she can possibly be.

Criminal charges should be sought. Someone knows who had that dog.
ReplyDeleteThere are nice people in this world and thankfully, this girl found them. How sad her own family could be so heartless as to dump this poor old dog. Hopefully, she will find a wonderful home to spend her last days. Thank you for helping her.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are taking care of this poor senior. One has a hard time understanding how someone can abandon their aged friend like that. I commend you all for making her as comfortable as you can! I hope someone comes who can let her live out what small time she has in the warmth of a home. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteNot only did you show compassion which is a nearly extinct in our "throw away, what have you done for me, today" society today, you habe given all of us who cherish animals a glimmer of hope for them. God Bless You!!!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You and may good Karma always be with you!!
ReplyDeletePlease continue doing this!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to express my gratitude for every single person who is willing to save, help and make any animals life more bearable. Perhaps an ungrateful work at times, but keep doing it its appreciated worldwide. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are all very unique and special people.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing the right thing!

ReplyDeleteThere is still good in the world! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteIs this a no-kill shelter, please? Otherwise.....This story is appalling as a statement of humans, no matter what their problem.....unless they left the dog because they "had" to and explained their plight to whomever they left Friday with. Please make sure this dog finds a foster or adoptive home. Thank you.

I volunteer in our city's kill shelter and people do this all the time. We just got 2 elderly dogs 15 and 13 that lived together - we're trying to get them to a rescue that won't split them up - otherwise they don't stand a chance. It really can sour you on humans.
DeleteThank you for having a kind heart & good soul!
ReplyDeleteto all those Wonderful Volunteers! Keep up the good work! At a shelter I used to manage we had set up a retirement Home for elderly pets and those whose ownners had passed away. Funded by bequests and donations it still exists after over 30 years.
ReplyDeleteYou all have hearts Of Gold!
There are angels on Earth
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compassion you showed towards this beautiful animal. God Bless You!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you for loving this animal...and all animals. Thank you for your big hearts and selflessness. You are special people!
ReplyDeleteIN TEARS!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteMay lots of wonderful karma come your way for this kind and decent act.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this! We need people like you in this world. I hope you get more help and continue this wonderful task.
ReplyDeleteSome people need to learn the pet should be part of your family. I hope poor Friday is under excellent loving care now.
ReplyDeletethank you for saving Friday and giving her love and safety. It is a shame that she was abandoned in the last years of her life.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to have her if I could only get her up here I would take good care of her it is sad that some body would do that to a animal Thay should be looked up
ReplyDeleteGood karma! Other people I know experienced a surprising level of grief when their old dog died or had to be euthanased due to terminal illness/pain.Abandoning elderly companions shows a shocking lack of compassion. Same treatment for aged parents I wonder?
ReplyDeleteThank you and may Gob richly bless you and the staff. I know Friday is grateful. She's probably very confused, but she is grateful.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Merry Christmas.
Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU ALL

What you guys are doing add to the great karma and beauty of the world. Your kindness makes the world a better place, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she found someone. I'm betting it was difficult for whomever had owned her before to do that though--they took care of her for 18 beautiful years, I can't think that it would be easy for anyone who'd taken care of a radiant soul on four legs to do that.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bright
It's heart breaking to think anyone can dump a pet they've had for 18 years.Bless you for lettign this sweet baby retire in a loving home. ♥
ReplyDeleteBless you and Bless Friday .... what a darling she is x
ReplyDeleteThank you from the bottom of my heart for saving Friday & letting her live out her golden years in peace.
ReplyDeleteWhat heartless owners, how could they do this after having this dog all those years. Shame on them. Thank you to those who took in this beautiful dog and I hope he will be able to live a great life in his remaining years. I hope someone can help this dog forget the pain and void of being abandoned. Fill his days with love and attention. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Friday's former owner has kids and they do the same to him/her!
ReplyDeleteKnowing of your kindness to Friday was a special Christmas gift today. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your love & care of Friday.
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping this elderly girl!!
ReplyDeleteage, I have never understood the true definition; compassion, love, and affection is within all human and animal no matter the years. I am as commetted to my 4 legged daughter as the other children I birthed. Thank you Lord for Beatta in my life. I will comfort her as long as you allow. Tanyea W.
ReplyDeleteThat was so heartless. Thank you for taking in sweet Friday.
ReplyDeleteThis 'little' thing means so much. So few do the right thing. I hope this dog gets all the love she's been denied a hundred-fold.
ReplyDeleteMany, many thanks for doing what you did..you put back my faith in human nature! God bless you!

ReplyDeletewell done.... there is hope for huminity after all..... you guys are just awesome...... unlike the piece of human garbage who threw away a family member just because they got old...
ReplyDeleteYou make my heart smile :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI feel so sad for that dog, all its life with the same owner and now to be lost and wondering, when she will be going home. This really makes me cry for her. When someone takes on the life of any animal that means you promise to love them and make sure they will always be ok no matter what. Why do people even bother getting animals only to give them away if they do something wrong or whatever unexcuseable excuse they have. Make sure to think that animals have feelings to and dont deserve anything humans dont. I pray that someone wilk take in this dog snd give it the best of her remaining years. Lets all ask god to help us with this prayer for her. Id give up anything to make sure that every animal had a chance to love and be loved and live life with thier best friend and campion meaning thier owner. I wish this dog and all others the best from the bottom of my big heart.

ReplyDeleteThank you for giving this dog the chance to live. May her remaining days reveal to her that love can manifest in many ways and from new faces in new places. May she learn that caring friends are looking after her and her new life be more enriching than her previous one. Love conquers all. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThe only reliable measure of a human is its humanity. Our companion animals are a sign of our higher thinking. Setting in its prime place, the fact that our humanity should be firstly about others of our kind, we also have a direct responsibility to our companions. With their old age, that responsibility becomes greater, not lesser.. and then there is love.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to hear of active, caring, human compassion for animals. Keep up the good work... and thank you.

ReplyDeleteBless you for being so compassionate!
ReplyDeletethis is very awesome of the shelter to do! There should be many more just as compassionate! Keep up the good work and doing what you do :D
ReplyDeleteYou all at the shelter are just wonderful. A heart-felt thank you :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless this shelter and its volunteers - you are the epitome of what human beings and kindness is all about. i wish more than anything in this world, that ALL shelters and AC were as kind as this. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WARMING MY HEART for a change. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteA very heartfelt and loving thank you for your compassion and hard work... and love.
ReplyDeletea big thankyou to everyone at tri-county humane society in boca raton, the compassion you have shown towards friday is so heartwarming, the world needs people like you merry xmas and a happy new year to you all
ReplyDeleteDear Shelter Workers,
ReplyDeleteAs a former shelter volunteer who saved many animals from death, including elderly dogs and cats, I know the importance of acknowledging your compassion. Our group was mistreated, harassed and eventually ousted from the shelter by city employees and police. During our terrible ordeal, no one stepped up for us or gave us any support. It was a devastating loss for us and for all the animals we could no longer save.
I just want to let you know I appreciate how difficult it is to deal with abandoned and suffering animals and it takes special dedication and compassion to do this work. I commend all of you for your kindness and hard work. All the best to you. Brenda
I wish for the day when the kind service shown to Friday the dog by the TriCounty Human Society of Boca Raton, FL will be the standard - and NOT something out of the ordinary that we are urged to commend. Thank you very much to all of the other shelters in the US and Canada (and all around the world) who care for abandoned pets all year 'round.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for helping her feel safe. We lost our at least 18 year old cat to old age in the spring and it still breaks my heart. I can't imagine giving her away. So sad.
ReplyDeleteBless You All for Your Genuine Love, Care, Sacrifice, and Hard Work for those who are misfortunate and voiceless. You make the difference and shows the significance of Life in all Creation. Love, linda.
ReplyDeleteThere should be more people like you. The person who gave up the older dog should be ashamed. I believe in karma and that person will someday need senior care or assisted living, but won't receive it.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SOO MUCH! YOU ARE TRULY A "HUMANE SOCIETY" IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!!I ONLY WISHED ALL THE OTHER SHELTERS AND HUMANE SOCIETIES IN THE WORLD WOULD TAKE NOTICE AND FOLLOW IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS...
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU THANK YOU! You have no idea how much you've touched the life of Friday and those to hear your story!
ReplyDeleteLove is supposed to be "unconditional". Poor innocent dog. Thanks to those caring individuals for caring for her from now one.....at least she will still feel loved. And may the person/people that abandoned her have sleepless nites from now on................
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely wonderful!! I wish more shelters looked at the elderly animals there like you have for Friday. Some people are completely heartless and I hope the horrible person that did this sees this and is riddled with guilt. I just lost my 18 year old Pekinese Buddy this March and I couldn't have imagined not being there for his final moments - so that he could feel loved all the way to the end. It should be til death do you part with your pets. Thanks for the positive message. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your compassion & kindness in doing the right thing, Gentle hugs for Friday & her caretakers,
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for showing love ad compassion to this poor, confused, and probably heart-broken dog.
ReplyDeleteIn 2012 I took in a record 6 cats who's owners had died or been put in nursing homes and a 20 year old dog who's owner had died.
Geriatric animals simply have no chance at adoption in a regular pound/shelter situation.
THANK YOU for taking the extra steps necessary to save this dog's life.
Please continue to help the animals whenever you can.
You will be blessed for your actions.
I LOVE YA'LL,
Terri
It is very sad that in the last years of his life someone abandonded this old fellow, unless the original owner died or became ill and relatives did not want the responsibility. I know of a similar instance where a someones elderly mother died and they had her 2 animals put down, one for being overweight, and the other being an old dog as well. I was tuly sad by it, but she did not want the resposibility, and felt they were not adoptable. I recnetly had to put to sleep last year my 19 year old German Shepherd-Bassett Hound, and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, I could not ever imagine not being with your aging loyal pet till the end. Some people have no conscience....
ReplyDeleteIt is so pathetic to see that when their pets gets older the owners disposes them as these animals are like commodities. I hope the people do this unethical mistretments to beloved & loyal companions should suffer the same when their time comes. Such individuals should be left alone to die alone without any loved one near by.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing compassion for this helpless abandoned dog. You restore faith in human kindness...
ReplyDeleteAwesome of you!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...Here we are taking care of the elderrly "humans" and people will do this to their elderly dog...really??
ReplyDeleteThanks sooooo much for being there for Friday!! Did I mention THANK YOU????
Pretty sad when an animal shelter cares more about an 18-year old dog than their 'owner' did. I'm glad some cared about the dog. I hope the owner rots in hell.

God bless this shelter! They give the term HUMANE TRUE MEANING! I pray more shelters follow their example!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You!! I am just glad someone left him with you..and did not abandoned him out in the cold to die or some place he would starve to death..What a beautiful soul...God has a special place for all these animals,, Thank you for being there for him
ReplyDeleteabandon your pet and be entered into a public database for all to see. might as well be casting a family member into a death camp.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all at that shelter for being compassionate and loving people the world needs more like you!!!!!! Thank you and God bless you keep up the great work!!! Let nothing sway your heart!!!
